Fees and reimbursement

In brief

Dr Olivier Kadoch, obstetrician-gynaecologist in Paris, is contracted with the French national health insurance (Assurance maladie) in sector 2 (secteur 2, extra-billing permitted). Consultations and procedures are reimbursed on the basis of the national tariff. Any additional fee is set with tact and moderation, disclosed in advance and may be covered by your top-up health insurance.

Fees in each situation

Frequently asked questions

How much does a consultation cost?

A consultation costs €120 to €150. Students are seen at the national (Sécurité sociale) tariff, and patients covered by the C2S (formerly CMU) or AME are charged no additional fees.

What does “sector 2” mean?

A doctor contracted in sector 2 may charge fees above the national tariff, set with tact and moderation. The Assurance maladie reimburses on the basis of the national tariff; the additional fee may be fully or partly covered by your top-up insurance, depending on your policy.

How do I know the cost before surgery?

You receive a written quote at the consultation before the operation. It lists the procedures, the surgeon's fees and the reimbursed amount. Anaesthetist's fees and clinic charges are provided separately.

Will my top-up insurance cover the additional fee?

That depends on your policy. Send the quote to your insurer before the operation to find out how much they cover and what remains payable by you.
